Chimeneas

The purpose of a chimenea is to provide heat while you are outside, whether in a garden or patio area or any other outdoor space. Chimeneas have a large, round bowl where the fuel is burned and a narrower chimney on top which usually has a removable lid.

There is a wide range of outdoor heating available on the market, from patio heaters to fire pits, so why choose a chimenea? In addition to their practical use of providing heat, chimeneas are also a stylish garden feature in their own right. Choosing a chimenea instead of a patio heater will give you an attractive focal point to enjoy.

You can use your chimenea all year through. While we have found that many people enjoy them on balmy summer evenings or at Sunday barbecues, a chimenea will also help you to make the most of your garden during autumn and winter when the weather turns colder. Adding one of our bargain scented firelighters to the fuel will release delicious smells such as winter spice or clove, rosemary and hickory.

Many chimeneas also have the added function of a barbecue grill, so you can impress friends and family with freshly-cooked culinary delights!

We supply both metal chimeneas in cast iron and steel and clay chimeneas. If you are unsure which material is best for you, here are a few things to consider.

Style: Clay is a long-established material for chimineas so if you prefer a traditional, rustic style, particularly something as close as possible to the style of the original Mexican chimineas, clay is best for you. Steel or cast iron chimineas have a much more modern, contemporary look.

Colour/Pattern: In keeping with their modern style, metal chimeneas often tend to be monochrome (usually black, bronze and other similar colours) and without pattern. Clay chimeneas on the other hand come in a range of colours from terracotta to bright blue and frequently display a pattern or design.

Grill: If you are looking for a chiminea which also has a grill so you can use it for cooking, a steel or cast iron chiminea is best for you; most of these are supplied with a grill, whilst very few clay chimineas are.
