Overview

Vivid buttercup-like flowers in late winter. Carpets of bright yellow, buttercup-like flowers in late January and February surrounded by ruffs of fresh green leaves. Winter aconites originate from damp woodland and shady places in Eurasia so are perfect for naturalising under deciduous shrubs and trees. They are a welcome sight in late winter as they are one of the first things into flower in the garden. Buying winter aconite bulbs 'in the green' is a great way to stop them getting dehydrated. Basically, the bulbs have been potted up in the autumn, and while they may be showing some signs of top growth, they are unlikely to show any significant root growth. They should however be planted out as soon as possible into well-drained, fertile, humus-rich soil.

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.

Typically plants are delivered ready to plant and will take some time to settle, grow and look more like the product image above.
