Overview

Vibrant orange-red flowers over a long period. The grass-like foliage of this showy, architectural perennial, forms a stiffly upright clump, from which stout stems arise in mid- to late summer, each topped with a poker-like spike of slender, reddish orange flowers. Putting on an eye-catching display that lasts well into autumn, its compact growth, structural silhouette and long flowering season, makes it a great addition to mixed borders or prairie-style planting schemes.

Care guide

In autumn remove the faded flower spikes and apply a deep, dry mulch around the crown of the plant. Divide and replant overcrowded colonies in spring.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.

Typically plants are delivered ready to plant and will take some time to settle, grow and look more like the product image above.
