20-40cm Paw-paw Plant | 3L Pot | Asimina triloba
Paw-paw Plant | 3L Pot | Asimina triloba
Pawpaw, is a large shrub native to the eastern United States but thrives in the UK climate. It can grow up to 5 meters tall if left unchecked and can be spread by root suckers to form colonies or thickets. Large, slightly drooping, elliptical, medium green leaves retain a vibrant green colour well into fall before turning to a brilliant yellow. The pulp of the ripened fruit is a vibrant yellow that was once used by early Americans as a die. Cup-shaped, purple flowers blossom in spring, and give way to edible, rectangular, yellow/green fruits which mature in early autumn to a rich brown colour. The sweet-flavored fruits bares an uncanny resemblance to bananas not with flavour and consistency, if not shape. Fruits can be eaten straight from the bush but are beautiful ice creams or pies and a great unique addition to a smoothie if you are looking for something to shake it up a bit. Wildlife eagerly seek out the fruits during winter so make sure you get there first!

Advice on hot and droopy plants
If your plants are looking a little wilted right now, don’t worry! Plants like to be filled with water to keep their structure, and when it’s hot that water evaporates.
Just give them an off-schedule watering and they’ll be right as rain in no time! Be careful not to flood them - plants don’t like extremes.
