The solanum tuberosum "Charlotte" potato is the most popular salad potato in the UK. This second early variety plant produces pear-shaped, shallow-eyed, waxy tubers with firm yellow flesh full of first class flavour. These potatoes are delicious hot or cold, and can boil without falling apart. The plant is of medium height and perfect for container or bag growing, and the potatoes will grow 50% bigger than other salad varieties if allowed. The Charlotte is an excellent choice if you want to try growing potatoes for Christmas.
