The classic Christmas potato, the solanum tuberosum "King Edward" potato is one of the oldest varieties of potato, dating back to its introduction in the UK in 1902. These popular potatoes have light brown skin that is adorned with distinctive pink-ish markings around the eyes and creamy-white flesh with a light, floury texture that stays white when cooked. Rated one of the best tasting potatoes, King Edwards are a firm favourite for roasting, however their versatility means they are great for all uses (aside from salad). Overall disease resistance is good, with excellent resistance to scab and slugs.
