A great all-rounder, the solanum tuberosum Maris Piper potato is the most commonly grown potato variety in the UK. The dry, floury potatoes have a creamy-white flesh that rarely discolours when cooking and can be used for a variety of potato dishes. These tasty potatoes have been rated the best variety to use for making chips. The plants are tall-growing with attractive light purple flowers and dark berries, and one of the highest potato yields. One of the main benefits of the Maris Piper is its resistance to potato cyst eelworm, and it can be stored for longer than most other varieties.
