There’s nought so hardy as the mother in laws tongue. The Snake plant, Saint George’s Sword, the Sansevieria; call it whatever you want this houseplant can survive, it’s been tried and tested as one of the most unkillable houseplant varieties you can buy. On top of that, it's also one of Nasa’s best-rated air-purifying plants. Coming from central Africa originally these plants are happy in bright sunny spots but can also survive in shaded areas. You can place them anywhere in the house because of this but they may be best suited in the bedroom; unlike most plants, the Sansevieria actually gives off oxygen at night!
The upright structure of these plants and their attractive striped leaves make for a pleasing plant that can add character to any room. Your snake plant will come with a ceramic display pot so it's ready to go straight out of the box and it can get on with cleaning that air.
The main thing to get right with this plant is the watering. Overwatering is the easiest way to kill a snake plant so its best to wait until the soil is almost dry, watering every two to three weeks and even less so in the winter. You can let the soil become dry to the touch between watering. Feed with a generic houseplant feed every couple of months for an added boost.
