'Ecolette' Patio Apple Tree
Suitable for growing on a patio in a container, 'Ecolette' is the perfect apple to grow if you live in an area that suffers from scab and previous varieties haven't lived up to expectations.

Grafted onto a dwarfing rootstock, 'Ecolette' is suitable for growing in a decent-sized pot or in the open ground. It offers moderate-good yields and storage quality, combined with great flavour, due to the fruit's high sugar content and high acidity balance. 'Ecolette' has highly ornamental fruit, with a strong red blush on a yellow background and white flesh.

If you like the variety 'Elstar' but it falls victim to scab where you live, ‘Ecolette’ is an excellent alternative, its parents being ‘Elstar’ and ‘Prima’, bred in the Netherlands. An added bonus is low susceptibility to mildew.

    Patio Fruit Trees

Think you don’t have room for a productive fruit tree? Think again. Thanks to the work of horticulturalists over the last few decades gone are the days when you had to have room for an orchard to get a decent crop.

Growing fruit trees in containers on your patio is easier than you think, creating an area that’s productive, ornamental and great for relaxing. You have the benefit of spring blossom attracting pollinators, ripening fruit, autumn colour and winter structure.

Self-fertilising varieties mean you only need one tree and dwarfing rootstocks mean they don’t take up lots of room.

Our patio trees are sold ready pruned into a distinct dwarf form. This does make them more expensive, but they are extremely productive in a small space. Follow pruning instructions to keep up fruit production.

Plant the tree in as big a pot as possible - a half barrel is ideal. If left in a small pot, the tree could drop flowers or fruit. Keep it well watered in dry weather and weed, mulch and feed to keep the plant in first-class condition. View our selection of planters perfect for trees here.
