3x Autumn Fern Dryopteris erythrosora - 9cm pots

Dryopteris Erythrosora is a species of fern that is native to Asia, and has triangular-shaped, coppery red fronds which become dark green when mature. Its foliage will create a stunning contrast to other green ferns, grasses, and perennials that grow in the garden, even during the winter months. Its semi-evergreen foliage will also retain its attractive colours throughout mild winters. Ferns are exceedingly valuable plants for shaded places in the garden, where most species would not thrive. Dryopteris Erythrosora has been awarded the Award of Garden Merit given by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), which helps gardeners make informed choices about plants.

The Award of Garden Merit or AGM is an award made to garden plants by the British Royal Horticultural Society after a period of assessment by the appropriate committees of the society. Awards are made annually after plant trials (which may last for one or more years, depending on the type of plant being trialled) at RHS Garden, Wisley and other RHS gardens, or after observation of plants in specialist collections. This is intended to judge the plants' performance for conditions in the UK.

More Information
Why X?

Ferns have impressed with their simplicity and elegance for a long time. They bring life to dark corners of the garden, where most other plants would fail. In open areas, ferns look best in rock gardens and under trees, perfectly complementing its undergrowth. They can also be planted at the edges of water channels, where delicate leaves will be reflected by flowing water, adding a touch of magic and charm to the area. The foliage of ferns stay evergreen or turn into attractive red or russet hues through the winter months. Ferns are good companion plants of hostas, lilies of the valley, grasses, primroses and anemones.
