Hydrangea Trellis 18L Trough Hydrangea petiolaris'

Hydrangea Trellis 18L Trough ‘Hydrangea petiolaris' is a beautiful climber able to thrive and flower in partial shade, making it perfect for any north-facing screening. This plant has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s AGM award for its hardy nature and disease resistance and is also recognised as a wildlife benefactor.

The dense green foliage is accompanied during the spring and early summer with a plethora of small china-white flowers. Beyond its aesthetic qualities ‘Hydrangea petiolaris’ is a vigorous grower and once established will be able to provide a thick, large screening, offering a luxurious sense of privacy in blocking any unwanted sites or sounds.

Primrose instant climbing plants are provided fully covering the trellis for instant impact when added to your garden. Just drop them into place either in the ground or in a container and prepare to marvel at your living screening. Incorporate into your garden design to cleverly compartmentalise your outdoor space creating areas for dining, walkways or even hide an unsightly feature.

Caring and Maintenance

Water regularly until roots are well established. Trim annually from mid to late summer. Apply some fertilizer in spring in order to promote healthy growth. Optionally, mulch in spring.

    Application information
    Follow these simple steps to planting success with Rootgrow™

    • 1. Dig planting hole as normal.
    • 2. Look at the base of the plant that is being planted and sprinkle into the bottom ofthe hole enough granules to cover only that area. Do not mix in.
    • 3. Place the plant in the hole directly on top of the granules. It is important that the granules come into direct contact with the plant roots.
    • 4. Backfill as normal with compost/soil.
    • 5. If using additional fertiliser add as a top dress or in backfill.
    • 6. Add mulch or top dress as required.
    How many plants will Rootgrow™ treat?

    • 9 cm pot: 1 tsp or 5g (a 360g sachet will treat approximately 72 plants)
    • 2-3 litre pot: 1 scoop or 25g (a 360g sachet will treat approximately 18 plants)
    • 4-5 litre rose: 2 scoops or 50g (a 360g sachet will treat approximately 9 roses)
    • 15 litre tree: 3 scoops or 60g (a 360g sachet will treat approximately 5 trees)

Planting

  • Planting Distance: Each trellis is 60cm wide. You can plant so touching if planting multiple, it may be best to leave 5/10 cm gap for the plant to grow around the edge.

Suited to almost all well-drained soils in a position with at least some sun.
If planting in the ground:

Before planting your trellis, clean up all wandering weeds and keep a clean ring around the trellis base. Water well during the first year until well established.

Dig a hole 2X the width of the rootball and deep enough for the root collar to sit just above the top of the hole when in position. Make sure to position so that the trellis is aligned as you desire.

Once positioned, backfill with soil and firm every few shovels to ensure there are no air gaps. Once filled, check alignment of the trellis and then give a generous watering.If planting in the a container:

Fill container with soil mix to the desired level. Then follow the steps above. You will not need to dig a hole quite so wide as you are planting into fresh soil.
