Lemon Tree Circle in 12L Pot

Bring a taste of the Mediterranean to your garden with your own lemon tree! Perfect for containers they also hold great ornamental value with their glossy evergreen foliage and bushy form. The citrus blossom in spring fills the air quite unlike any other flower and is enough to warrant investing on its own.

This particular tree would make a fantastic gift with its unique circular form. It has been trained around a bamboo frame to create its interesting shape. Not only does it look good it also provides a bigger surface area so it will produce even more lemons despite it being small in stature.

This tree is a good size and it is already producing fruit. It requires little space so it would be great for a patio or smaller garden and will make an instant impact. There's nothing quite like the taste of your own lemons either - lemonade tastes that bit sweeter and, although many thought it was impossible, gin and tonics are improved!

Caring and Maintenance

Water well until roots are well established. Trim annually from mid to late summer. Apply some fertilizer in spring in order to promote healthy growth and a good crop. Optionally, mulch in spring. Check tree ties regularly and loosen any if necessary to avoid rubbing of the stems.

Will need protection from frosts under -2/-3 degrees. Either mulch with straw and move closer to the house or use a insulating fleece. Alternatively you can move inside for the winter if kept as a container plant.

Planting

  • Planting Distance: 3-4m
  • - Suitable for container planting

Suited to almost all well-drained and moderately fertile soils with pH between 6.5 and 7.5 in a sheltered, full sun location.
Before planting your tree, clean up all wandering weeds and keep a clean ring around the tree base. Dig a hole approximately a third wider than the root ball. Carefully yet firmly backfill the remaining soil around the root ball and water well during the first year until well established.

Autumn is the best season for planting fruiting trees, as the soil moisture and heat allow easier and faster root establishment and regeneration of damaged root systems.
