  • Self contained reservoir

This water feature starts off looking similar to many other spherical steel water features. However, after just a few days of use, it will develop a rust-like surface that also has a protective layer. This layer protects against further corrosion, and it is completely unique, so no two features are the same. The intricate petal pattern is still visible once the rust has developed. Complete with a pump, you will be able to get this feature up and running in no time. All you need to do is add water and bury the reservoir in the ground. It has been finished with integrated LED lights that bring the feature to life at night, beautifully illuminating the bubbling water.

Corten Steel - Rust Surface with Protective Layer

Corten is a type of steel that naturally weathers over time, and develops an attractive rust with a protective layer. It is really a paradox, as although it is rusted, to a degree, the surface actually has a layer that protects against further corrosion. In other words, the steel is allowed to rust in order to form the protective coating. This protective layer develops due to the elements that are active in the alloys of the steel. It regenerates continuously when subjected to the influence of water and oxygen.

Petal Pattern Surface

The decorative petal pattern gives the surface additional texture; the design allows the 'corten rust' to develop over the petals, however the pattern is still clearly visible through the rust. The petals also channel the water in different and interesting directions, as they are raised slightly.

'Ultra Bright' White LED Lights

The white lights are situated at the top of the sphere, so that they illuminate the water as it bubbles out of the top, adding another layer of intrigue to this feature.

Rusting Process

The images to the left and directly below show the feature as the process has begun and the rust starts to develop. It will arrive with a steel finish, similar to that of other stainless steel features. If you wish, you can speed up the rusting process by using a cloth and rubbing the surface with salt and/or vinegar.

"Very happy with the look of the sphere itself but not impressed with the assembly method, linking sphere to reservoir lid. The assembly instructions - which were very flimsy and consisted of 3 (I think) photos - didn't tally with the components provided. I feel I needed to 'bodge' this link."

"The water tank is of too small a diameter for the 50cm ball which means the water splashes over the side. I am currently having to top up the tank with a watering can full of water daily- NOT A VERY SATISFACTORY STATE OF AFFAIRS !!!!!!!"

"It was really easy to install. I did have cause to phone Primrose as the fixings from the photographic instructions had changed and I thought a part was missing. They were very helpful on the phone and it was quickly resolved. I also found a previous review helpful regarding the rusting process, which said about the water turning orange during said process and having to change it. We left the empty steel ball out on the rain for a week first, then installed it. The water has hardly any discolouration and may not need to be changed now. Really love the product, it was exactly what we were looking for."

"The feature was a bit tricky to put together, only because the holes for the screws connecting the base to the feature didn't line up! Otherwise it would have been an excellent. Took two of us and some strength to finally do it. Finished result looks fantastic, I was surprised at the amount of pressure from the small pump, it makes a lovely sound and looks lovely at night."

"The sphere adds another dimension to the garden. I'm looking forward to seeing it gradually change colour."
