Begonias prefer a sheltered position where they can receive full or partial sun. Plant in well-drained soil and water regularly as they establish, keeping the soil moist once they do establish. Water regularly if container grown. Over winter begonias will need lifting to survive, cut off old flower stems 5cm from the base, dig up the plant without damaging the tubers and store in sand, soil or compost with the old flower stalks exposed. Watch out for pests like vine weevils and funguses like powdery mildew. These plants are delivered as plugs so make sure to grow on your plug plants before planting in your beds, after 4 to 5 weeks after potting they will be ready to plant directly in your garden
Please note: Herbaceous perennials can die back in winter, so don't be alarmed if this happens and instead look forward to spring!
