New compact disease-resistant variety perfect for small gardens
Ben Tirran is a new and distinct blackcurrant cultivar. It has a vigorous yet compact growth habit and shows good resistance disease including to mildew. Flowering very late, the berries also mature late hence the good resistance to frosts. Good crops of large glossy blackcurrants can be expected and the juicy fruit carries a great flavour and can be used fresh or preserved. Ben Tirran will grow in any reasonable garden soil but avoid very dry sites.
