Floribunda Rose

Floribunda roses came to be as a result of cross-breeding Hybrid Teas with Polyantha Roses. They bloom in large clusters, producing masses of vibrant, colourful flowers. In fact very few other plants actually produce so much colour over a season. 'Ebb Tide' is no exception with its wonderful deep purple flowers. With their vigorous growth habit, Floribunda roses look brilliant when grown in a large bed or mixed border. Easy to grow, they are hardier and more robust than other roses such as Hybrid Teas.

Wonderful Fragrance

Originally, Floribunda roses did not have much scent. However, newer more fragrant varieties are appearing and 'Ebb Tide' is one of these. As a repeat bloomer it will fill your garden with a wonderful, strong, spicy fragrance for months at a time. Slightly smaller than other varieties of Floribunda rose, 'Ebb Tide' can be grown in patio pots and would be brilliant placed near a doorway or building where the wonderful fragrance can be enjoyed.

Planting and Care

Your rose should be planted in soil with a pH of 6.0-6.5 in a sunny spot with shelter from the cold winds. A nearby hedge or fence is good but should not be too close that it shades the bush. Your rose will need good drainage as it will not grow in waterlogged soil. Roses should be planted from Late October to March and the ground should not be waterlogged or frozen.

Water young roses regularly until established. All roses will need plenty of water in a period of drought in spring and summer. Apply a layer of mulch in spring. Frequent hoeing will help keep down weeds not smothered by mulching. Feed your rose every year using a proprietary compound fertiliser. Roses need frequent deadheading to remove faded blooms and also need to be pruned yearly. For more information about how to plant and maintain your rose bush please click here to see our guides.
