Papillon™ Hazel Hurdles 4ft 6in (1.37m) Fencing Panel
Woven from coppiced hazel to a traditional pattern, this beautiful, robust and eco-friendly 4ft 6in hazel fence panel will make a perfect practical addition to your garden. Bring a part of the countryside to your very own garden with this hazel fence panel, which will not only be ideal for the traditional English country garden but also provide gardeners in the 21st century with the opportunity to create a natural look for modern urban spaces.
Features
The hazel horizontals are large, appearing more like 'branches' of a tree, generally from 1 to 2cm thick giving a more sturdy and robust feel to your fencing. They have been strongly built and depending on the level of exposure to wind and how well they are secured in place, they can be expected to provide a good few years of service and will age gracefully while still maintaining sturdiness.
Hazel fencing is coppiced, meaning the branches are cut only from new growth. The purpose is two-fold: to ensure that the branches or 'wands' are flexible and of reasonably uniform thickness, and to allow more growth for next year.
They can be cut easily to reduce the height by cutting the verticals and removing unrequired horizontals. The width can be reduced by carefully cutting to ensure that the horizontals don't become unwoven. Alternatively, overlap adjacent hurdles to reduce width.
Dimensions
All panels are 6ft wide
Sizes:Medium - Width 180cm, Height 135cm (4ft 6")
Please Note: The height refers to the horizontal woven section - the vertical stakes sticking out at the top and bottom add up to an extra 6 inches.
You might also consider Willow Screening. Screening is cheaper, and allows you to cover existing walls or fences with natural willow.

The wooden, pressure treated fence post is fantastic for using to set up fencing, screening or hurdles. Easy to set up, simply measure the height of your fencing and cut the post to the correct height before installing it in the ground. It is ideal for use with our hazel and willow hurdles.
This fence post helps to complete the look which willow and hazel hurdles bring to your garden and create a more rustic woodland aesthetic compared to traditional fencing.
Alternatively, this fence post can be used with our range of screening products to create beautiful natural barriers in your garden. When combined with screening, this fence post can also be used to divide areas of your garden for practical or aesthetic purposes, screening vegetable patches away from encroaching pets or creating a lovely backdrop to your flowerbeds.
The posts should be measured against the hurdles to find the correct height. As it is completely natural it can be cut to any length desired – for example one could cut several at different heights to make a “staggered” look to make a striking garden feature.
You can easily attach the hurdles to the fence post with the included galvanised wire or with cable ties or screws/nails.
Please Note: You should have at least 18 inches of post in the ground to ensure stable support, more if the site is exposed.
