Houttuynia cordata, also known as the heart-leaved houttuynia, are rhizomatous perennials with attractive yellow spiked flowers, and white, petal-like bracts at their base. Their cheerful white and yellow appearance and distinctive heart shaped foliage create a beautiful effect in herbaceous borders. They can reach up to 50cm in height, and their spread can extend up to 1 metre. Their strongly fragranced, orange scented leaves will add a pleasant aroma to your garden.

Caring and Maintenance:
These plants are low-maintenance, but spread vigorously. Divide regularly to limit spread, especially in spring. Keep soil moist, and in the winter protect from the cold with dry mulch. Propagate by seed, by division, or using semi-ripe cuttings of young basal shoots.
Houttuynia thrives in moist, poorly-drained soil, either in full sun or partial shade. It is perfect for flower beds and borders, in either sheltered or exposed conditions.
