Intricate magenta blooms, a beautiful means of brightening up the winter landscape...
'Karmers Rote' (but also known as 'Karmers Red'), is an evergreen shrub that will decorate your garden with magenta blooms that gracefully nod from their sweeping branches. Happy even in severe winters, this little shrub is wonderful for providing some romantic colour to the wintertime garden. Why not pair this variety up with a Rhododendron or Azalea as they both crave acidic soils, just like this Heather does!

About your Plant
Our herbaceous plants are lovingly grown by our trusted nursery, based in England. Each flourishing plant will be dispatched directly to your home.
Please note, your potted plant may not display flowers as soon as it arrives. However, the 'flowering period' in Specifications indicates when you can expect flowers to form. Many of our herbaceous plants also die back in winter, so will have little growth in spring, but grow quickly once sunlight hours improve.
Sustainability is one of our priorities, and as such, our plants are delivered in environmentally friendly packaging. Aside from being recyclable, they will keep them nice and secure on their journey.
Please note: where your plant is supplied with a pot, your plant's 'Height on Arrival' includes the pot
- Soil: Also known as ‘Scottish Heath’, your Erica plant will love acidic soil! We recommend pouring a spade’s worth of ericaceous compost into the planting hole, and adding some well-rotted manure on top before mixing together. This will keep the soil acidic for several years.
- Pruning: To keep your Erica nice and compact, cut back by 2 - 3cm after two to three years; this will encourage it to bush out.
Advice on hot and droopy plants
If your plants are looking a little wilted right now, don’t worry! Plants like to be filled with water to keep their structure, and when it’s hot that water evaporates.
Just give them an off-schedule watering and they’ll be right as rain in no time! Be careful not to flood them - plants don’t like extremes.
