Hippuris Vulgaris is an oxygenating aquatic plant with whorls of blue-green, partially submerged foliage. It is useful in providing cover for fish and other types of pond wildlife.
Caring and Maintenance:
This plant is low maintenance, but should be cut occasionally to prevent overgrowing, especially before July. After this period, the rate of regrowth will slow down and regular cutting will no longer be necessary.
This plant is suitable for zone 2 of a pond. Plant in a basket with aquatic soil and covered with a layer of grit. Plant in approximately 10-20cm of water.
Oxygenating plants grow from the bottom of ponds or water features. Their submerged leaves give off bubbles of oxygen, improving the water quality for fish and other pond life and maintaining the ecology balance of the the pond. These plants also absorb mineral salts from the water and reduce algae growth.
