Moon Phase Gardening
The moon has been used by gardeners throughout the ages to help with planting and growing. Gravitational pull influences moisture in the soil, so just as the moon pulls the tides in the oceans, it also has an effect on smaller bodies of water by causing moisture to rise in the earth, which of course encourages growth. There is no surprise then, that at the time of the full moon, research has found that plants absorb more water than at other times during the moon's cycle. Whereas, in the second quarter of the moon, the gravitational pull is weak, but the moonlight is strong, which is is great for leaf growth, and generally a good time for planting. By using a moon phase clock, you are following in the muddy footprints of many gardeners before you, as well as engaging in an interesting and fascinating way of gardening.
