A centrepiece for your pond!

This water lily will thrive in a depth between 30cm and 120cm and has a spread of up to 90cm. It is a hardy perennial plant with delightful lotus-like flowers which grow on long, upright stalks. They bloom from June to September and their flower heads open during the day. Its orbicular green leaves float on the water surface, thanks to its numerous air chambers and short, densely grown hairs on the underside of the leaf. Nymphaea 'Attraction' has flushed pink cup-shaped petals, with an abudance of green round floating leaves with a tone of bronze.

Waterlilies enjoy a sunny spot in a still pond, away from running water. They dislike being overcrowded so make sure they have enough space to accommodate the waterlilies at their full size. Deadhead the flowers once they fade, if you can do so safely. Waterlilies do not generally suffer from disease if cared for properly but it can be victim to several different pests but they are unlikely to cause long term damage. Avoid using pesticides on aquatic plants as this can harm the biodiversity of your pond. Instead, hose off leaves, remove pests by hand if safe and cut off any infested leaves.
