The gorgeous Colorado water lily is both vibrant and elegant. Despite its delicate pinkish hue, it is a hardy little plant, more than capable of surviving harsh winters and renowned for its spectacular quantity of blooms. This lily spreads across an area of around 80cm - 1m when mature, making it perfect for medium to larger ponds. Its mesmerising flowers poke out from the surface of the water and deliver a pleasant scent. Plant ideally in the spring and in 15-1m of water in a spot where the flowers can enjoy at least 5 hours of sunshine a day.

Waterlilies enjoy a sunny spot in a still pond, away from running water. They dislike being overcrowded so make sure they have enough space to accommodate the waterlilies at their full size. Deadhead the flowers once they fade, if you can do so safely. Waterlilies do not generally suffer from disease if cared for properly but it can be victim to several different pests but they are unlikely to cause long term damage. Avoid using pesticides on aquatic plants as this can harm the biodiversity of your pond. Instead, hose off leaves, remove pests by hand if safe and cut off any infested leaves.
