Geranium Plants FAQs
When choosing your geranium, keep in mind that it will either be a geranium or pelargonium. A perennial will reemerge after its dormancy, while pelargoniums are annuals – these are ideal if you like to experiment with new displays each year.
Do geraniums prefer sun or shade?
These flowers love the sun and need around 4-6 hours of sunlight a day – longer if the light is filtered. If your geraniums aren’t flourishing, it could be due to them not having enough sunlight.
How do you take care of geranium plants?
To get the most out of yours, make sure that you:
- Place your plants in pots with drainage holes so that the roots do not rot. You can use a draining mixture when planting them.
- Avoid soggy, dense soil.
- Place the plants where they will get 4-6 hours of sunlight.
- Place them outside in warmer months of the year so they can get sunlight. Remember to bring them indoors when autumn is approaching and the nighttime temperature falls.
- Allow the soil to dry out before watering them.
Why are the leaves on my geraniums turning yellow?
If the leaves of your geranium are turning yellow it could be due to overwatering and soil that is too moist. Or, it could be due to the weather cooling down.
