When should hyacinth bulbs be planted?
Hyacinth bulbs should be planted in early autumn – ideally in September – ready for them to bloom around March-April time. You can get Christmas blooms from hyacinths, but you’ll need to plant prepared bulbs in September.
What do you do with hyacinth bulbs after they bloom?
After you’ve enjoyed the beautiful blooms of your hyacinths, you’ll need to inspect the bulbs for signs of damage, decay or disease. Healthy hyacinth bulbs can be dried and stored for reuse the next year. Simply pat the bulbs dry and place them in a paper bag, then store in a cool, dry place until the next autumn.
Do hyacinths come back every year?
Providing that you yield and look after any healthy hyacinth bulbs, you can simply replant the bulbs each autumn to enjoy fresh hyacinths the next spring! If you’re looking for even more beautiful blooms to fill your borders, browse our full collection of flower bulbs here at Primrose.
