Raspberry Canes

Raspberry Canes

Producing delicious fruit you can eat straight from the plant or transform into jams, preserves and bakes, raspberry canes can be enjoyed almost all year round. In our range of raspberry canes, you’ll find plants for each raspberry-growing season.

Raspberry canes can be divided into summer and autumn fruiting varieties, which each have different pruning requirements. Summer fruiting raspberry canes are divided further into early, mid and late-season cultivars – we recommend you buy one of each to avoid a glut

Raspberry Canes FAQs

  • What Is A Raspberry Cane?

Raspberry cane is another word for a raspberry plant. While the raspberry cane might look like an ordinary leafy plant from a distance, close up you’ll be able to see the raspberries are growing on long stalks known as canes, that may even feature thorns on some varieties.
  • When Should You Plant Raspberry Canes?

Many fruit and vegetable plants are planted in spring, but raspberries should be planted from around November to March.

You need to make sure that the ground is no longer frozen or waterlogged – they thrive in cool, moist conditions, but these extremes could harm a young raspberry cane.

  • How Long Does It Take For A Raspberry Cane To Grow?

Once the raspberry can begin to produce fruit, depending on the seasonality of the variety you’ve chosen to grow, you can continue to harvest raspberries from June all the way through to October. We recommend buying raspberry canes with different harvest seasons to avoid a glut during one month of the year.
