How do you take care of pepper plants?
Growing them isn’t difficult, however, make sure you get the temperature right to get the most out of your plant. There are several things to bear in mind when caring for peppers. They need:
- Mulch to help keep the soil warm
- Deep watering every week (more frequently in warmer weather)
- Full sun to ripen properly, however, protect them against intense heat
- A fertiliser that is low in nitrogen
- A companion plant like cucumber or carrots
How long do peppers take to grow?
You can expect bell peppers to mature in around 60-90 days whereas spicy peppers take longer and can be ripe in around 150 days.
How many peppers will one plant produce?
On average, one pepper plant will produce between five to 10 peppers, however, this can vary depending on how well it is cared for and if it is in optimum conditions for bigger yields.
