Robinia pseudoacacia 'Frisia' (False Acacia Frisia) - 35L Pot Standard 10/12cm Girth

This beautiful, bushy, medium sized tree with pinnate leaves which are golden-yellow when young is a favourite of ours. The fresh, lime green leaves burst into life as one of the most invigorating signs of spring and turn a greenish-yellow later, with the change to orange-yellow coming later in the autumn.

This tree provides stunning interest all year long with racemes of fragrant, showy white flowers which cascade from the branches attracting many pollinating insects and people alike. This is a perfect feature tree for your garden and will grow in most positions and tolerates most soils well with little care and attention needed.

This particular tree is one from our mature ornamental tree range. If you want a substantial Robinia in your garden, but don't want to have to wait too long for it to grow, then this is a great option for you. This tree is already verging on 2 meters in height and has a thick, strong trunk and well established root base already developed. The tree was pictured in early spring, and being deciduous, was dormant.

As a six year old tree, this Robinia already has a good root base established. However, the tree will require some attention for the first year as it recovers from the transplant shock, so regular watering is advised. Strong growth will resume after this period, and you should see your tree edging towards an impressive stature over the next 3-5 years.

We deliver straight to you door, which is just as well because this huge tree wouldn't fit in most vans, let alone the average family car. And the best thing about this is, we only charge £5 for delivery, and you'll have your tree within 2-3 working days of ordering - no one else on the web offers a service like this for trees of this size!

Caring and Maintenance

Water young trees regularly until roots are well established. Trim annually from mid to late summer. Apply some fertiliser in spring in order to promote healthy growth and a good crop. Optionally, mulch in spring. Check tree ties regularly and loosen any if necessary to avoid rubbing of the stems.

Planting

  • Planting Distance: 5m

Suited to almost all, well-drained and moderately fertile soils with pH between 6.5 and 7.5 in an exposed or sheltered location in full sun. Before planting your tree, clean up all wandering weeds and keep a clean ring around the tree base. Water well during the first year until well established.

Autumn is the best season for planting trees, as the soil moisture and heat allow easier and faster root establishment and regeneration of damaged root systems.

Q:Does Height Really Matter?

A: Not As Much As You Might Think...
One stand out specification that customers often use to judge the value of a tree is the height. So should height directly correlate with the price of a tree? No, not necessarily.
To an extent the height of a tree can give you a good indication of its maturity but you must not forget: To grow a productive, well shaped, healthy tree you must prune it back regularly, especially when young.

Our trees often grow up to 2m in the fields before we prune them back and package them ready to send out. This pruning encourages the tree to grow more, stronger branches and ensures there is a good balance between the root size and top growth. This ensures that your tree puts energy into establishing a healthy root base instead of supporting top growth, providing a better foundation for your tree in the future. So, in summary: Don’t let the extra 10/20cm you may find elsewhere sway you. You are likely to be paying extra for the delivery costs and, if you want a healthy tree in the long run, you’re going to have to chop it off anyway!

"Trouble with buying a tree with no leaves is you can't really tell how good a specimen it is or how happy it is. But tree arrived extremely well packed and I'm hoping by spring I'll know that I've got a happy tree"
