Standard Edulis Rowan Tree 'Sorbus aucuparia Edulis' 25l Pot 8/10 Girth

Sorbus aucuparia Edulis is a cultivar of Rowan tree that produces bright orange-red edible berries that can be used to make Rowan Jelly. Edulis is thought to have been introduced to the UK during the 1800’s as the popularity of rowans increased.

The leaves of this cultivar are slightly larger than that of the average rowan with creamy clusters of white flowers produced from May to June. Sweet clusters of berries develop from an intial green, gradually ripening throughout the summer time to a bright orange-red colour.

It's leaves are also beautiful in their own right with a unique shape and vibrant green colour which provide a great contrast to the berries when their paths cross in early autumn.T

his hardy tree tends to prefer a cooler spot and will thrive on most soil types. A bushy tree, the Rowan will be alive with birds and other wildlife all year round, so pack up the bird table, this tree is all you will need.

As a four year old tree, this rowan already has a good root base established. However, the tree will require some attention for the first year as it recovers from the transplant shock, so regular watering is advised. Strong growth will resume after this period, and you should see your tree edging towards full maturity over the next 3-5 years.

We deliver straight to you door, which is just as well because this huge tree wouldn't fit in most vans, let alone the average family car. And the best thing about this is, we only charge £4.99 for delivery, and you'll have your tree within 2-3 working days of ordering - no one else on the web offers a service like this for trees of this size!

Planting

  • Planting Distance: 8m

Suited to almost all, well-drained and moderately fertile soils with pH between 6.5 and 7.5 in an exposed or sheltered location in full sun.
Before planting your tree, clean up all wandering weeds and keep a clean ring around the tree base. Water well during the first year until well established.

Autumn is the best season for planting trees, as the soil moisture and heat allow easier and faster root establishment and regeneration of damaged root systems.
