Purple Chokeberry / Aronia prunifolia Viking 9cm Pot

Purple chokeberry, is a multi-stemmed, large shrub with dark green foliage which is accompanied by beautiful showy white flowers in spring. This chokeberry turns a striking deep red to purple as autumn arrives and deep purple berries precede this.

It’s berries are very popular with wildlife and provide a much needed winter food source for birds. Get in there first and you can get yourself a crop of juicy fruit which is growing in popularity as a health food because of it’s high levels of vitamin c and amazing antioxidant properties.

These fruits should be eaten or frozen within a few days of harvest. They please even the most sophisticated of palates, and can be made into jams and preserves to bring great summer memories on autumn or winter days.

Freshly picked fruit will bring your desserts to life with a flavour that simply can't be matched by mass produced, shop bought fruit. When planning your garden, try to choose varieties with fruits that ripen from early summer to late autumn to ensure a constant supply of fresh fruits throughout the warmer months.
