Water Butterfly Wings Salvinia Natans Pack of 10
Salvinia Natans is a free-floating aquatic fern which has two nickel-sized leaves which lie flat against the surface of the water, and a third leaf which is always submerged and functions as a root. Cuticular papillae on the surface of the leaves keep water from interfering and serve to protect the leaves from decay. The plants grow into dense, floating mats which shade the water surface, helping to reduce algae growth and provide a good cover for baby fish and other small pond creatures.

Caring and Maintenance:
This is a very low maintenance plant which requires a well moisturised environment. Propagate by division at almost any time of the growing season. It is easy to keep under control, as cuttings of wandering stems can be removed at any time of the year. Please note that this plant is not frost hardy and requires frost protection to ensure survival.
Floating plants are plants which are adapted to freely float on the top of pond water and rarely fasten to the ground. They create a good habitat for pond life and fish and produce a strong root system, which has an important role in maintaining water conditions. They improve water purification from excess of nitrates and phosphates, restricting the growth of algae. The easiest of aquatic plants in terms of cultivation and care.
