Wisteria floribunda 'Violacea Plena' (Wisteria Black Dragon) - 3L Pot

Code: TR0335
Wisteria floribunda 'Violacea Plena' (Wisteria Black Dragon) - 3L Pot
This popular climbing plant is also known as Wisteria floribunda Black Dragon, produces long racemes of drooping pea-like, double violet purple flowers in summer. The attractive pinnate leaves emerge bronze in spring and mature to bright green then buttery yellow in autumn. It is ideal for growing against a wall or over a pergola in moist, but well drained soil and a position in full sun, although dappled shade will be tolerated. The height and spread can be restricted through pruning and to ensure a good floral display, prune once after the flowers have faded and again in mid-winter.

Our Wisteria are all grown from cuttings. We think is the best way to propagate Wisteria; they are guaranteed to be true to form unlike seedlings and they will present the same vigour and flowering as grafted plants without the risk of shooting from the rootstock below the ground.

    Planting and Care

Suited to almost all well-drained and moderately fertile soils with pH between 4.5 and 7.5 in a sheltered, full sun or partial shade location. Water well during the first year until well established. Keep a planting distance of at least 4 to 6 metres. Trim annually to maintain shape if desired. Apply some fertilizer in spring in order to promote healthy growth. Optionally, mulch in spring.

How to Plant a Potted Tree

A containerised tree can be planted at any point during the year unlike a bare root one. As long as the ground that it is planted in is not frozen or waterlogged the tree should be able to establish itself in any season. When planting your tree make sure that it has been watered and that it is in a suitable position where it can recieve plenty of sunshine and shelter from cold winds.
