Yellow Flag Iris pseudacorus - 3x 9cm Pots

Iris pseudacorus is a herbaceous perennial which can grow up to 1.5m in height. This plant, with its cheerful yellow flowers, will add a splash of colour to your garden. In the spring, its green foliage will bring the life back to your flower beds, and in the summer, its bright blooms will grow up to 10cm in width, with delicate brown veins appearing in late summer. It is also known as the Yellow fleur de lys because of its beautiful ornamental shape.

  • Plant spread: up to 1.5m

This plant will thrive in moist, poorly drained, humus-rich soil, such as is found at the margins of ponds and streams. It is a vigorous plant, which can reach a spread of up to 1.5m, so choose your planting site with care.

A perennial is a plant that lives for more than two years. Perennials are flowering plants which grow and bloom over the spring and summer and then die back every autumn and winter. They typically grow structures that allow them to adapt to living from one year to the next through a form of vegetative reproduction rather than seeding. Perennial plants often have deep, extensive root systems which can hold soil to prevent erosion, capture dissolved nitrogen before it can contaminate ground and surface water, and outcompete weeds. They grow very well in conditions that are poor in resources due to their earlier emergence in the spring, and the development of larger root systems which can access water and soil nutrients deeper in the soil.

The Award of Garden Merit or AGM is an award made to garden plants by the British Royal Horticultural Society after a period of assessment by the appropriate committees of the Society. Awards are made annually after plant trials (which may last for one or more years, depending on the type of plant being trialled) at RHS Garden, Wisley and other RHS gardens, or after observation of plants in specialist collections. This is intended to judge the plants' performance for conditions in the UK.

This plant is suitable for zones 1 & 2 of a pond.

Please Note: This plant is toxic, and should not be ingested.
