This variety of Almond was first introduced to the UK in 18th century. It boasts beautiful early spring flowers which are plentiful and delicately pink. The exquisite fruit needs a warm summer to develop properly and when it does it produces a real high quality, sweet, soft-shelled almond. As with plum trees (to which almonds are related) it is best to keep pruning to an absolute minimum.

So, in summary: Don't let the extra 10/20cm you may find elsewhere sway you. You are likely to be paying extra for the delivery costs and, if you want a healthy tree in the long run, you're going to have to chop it off anyway!
