Overview

One of the most reliable French beans around and a prolific cropper, producing heavy yields of long, straight sweetly-flavoured beans over a long period. A vigorous climber, it quickly clambers to the top of poles and starts producing beans ahead of most other varieties. The pale violet flowers make it pretty enough to grow in the ornamental garden, too. Growing Instructions: Sow three seeds to a 15cm pot in mid-April and keep well watered and warm until germination. Keep seedlings in a frost-free greenhouse or on a windowsill, potting them on as they grow, and once all threat of frost has passed harden off gradually before planting out. Protect young plants from slugs and support with hazel wigwams or trellis. Pick French beans very regularly to keep the harvest coming: if beans are left on the plant to mature it will stop producing new ones. Sow: April-June Harvest: June to August Approximate quantity: 50 seeds.
