What size parasol base do I need?

Choosing the right parasol base is important to keep your parasol safe and stable. Weight is the most crucial factor for keeping it steady but a broader base surface generally helps distribute that weight and grip the ground more securely.

What weight parasol base do I need?

This depends on the diameter of your parasol, the base weight itself and whether you're using it through a table. As a general guide for our Hectare parasol range:

  • For 2.3m parasols, a base weighing 12–15kg is usually enough
  • For 2.5m and 2.7m parasols, we recommend a base of 15–20kg

If you're not placing the parasol through a table, we suggest using a slightly heavier base to help keep it steady, especially on windy days. It’s important that the pole fits snugly in the base — not too tight, but not too loose either. The pole should slide in easily but still be held firmly in place when secured. A loose-fitting pole may cause the parasol to wobble or tilt.
