Dahlia Honka Cream | Dahlia

An eye-catching dahlia with a relaxed, starry look, this cultivated variety brings a lighter, airier feel to summer planting schemes. The plant forms a neat, bushy clump with rich green foliage that sets off the blooms beautifully, making it ideal for adding texture without heaviness. Each flower has eight slender, pale cream petals that gently curl towards their tips, framing a warm golden-orange centre packed with stamens, and there’s even a faint, pleasant scent if you lean in close.

Flowering kicks off in mid-summer and keeps going right through to the first frosts, giving excellent value over a long season. Dahlia ‘Honka Cream’ works brilliantly in sunny borders or large patio pots, where its open form mixes well with grasses and softer perennials. Like all dahlias, it enjoys sunshine and regular watering, and in colder areas the tubers should be lifted and stored frost-free over winter. The flowers also last well when cut, so don’t be shy about bringing a few indoors to enjoy their simple, cheerful charm up close.
