Overview

You can add a tropical feel to your borders with this hardy hibiscus, because it will produce its exquisite blooms over several months from late summer. A deciduous shrub with a relatively upright habit, it can be used to create an informal screen, or use it in a mixed border to help prolong the season of interest well into autumn.

Care guide

To encourage a bushy habit prune young plants hard in late spring. After pruning apply a generous 5-7cm mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant. Little or no pruning is needed when established except to remove dead or diseased branches in late winter or early spring. In colder areas, shrubs might need a winter mulch.

Pots and Packaging
Larger pots (2L and above) are wrapped in waxed paper and then attached to a cardboard base so they stay stable in the box. The waxed paper prevents the compost from spilling out and gives the base some added protection from damp compost. For large numbers of plants, pallets may be used for shipping.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
