Overview

Understated and architectural, few houseplants will generate quite as much vertical impact as the palms. Ranging from the relatively compact parlour palm, to the taller kentia and bamboo palms (which once mature, will easily fill the corner of a room), their gracefully arching fronds will give a bright, indirectly lit spot in your home an air-purifying burst of greenery.Please note that the pots in the photograph are not supplied with the plants (which are sent out in simple nursery alternatives), but we have a wide and wonderful range on our website to choose from.

Care guide

Please see the individual plant pages for exact requirements. The plants within this collection all prefer a brightly lit indoor location out of direct sunlight with temperatures kept above 50°F (10°C). The plants enjoy a regular misting to maintain humidity and a reduction in watering throughout the winter months.

    Chamaedorea elegans:
  • Dypsis lutescens: A graceful, attractive palm with closely growing upright stems and long arching linear leaves, that makes a handsome focal point for any room.Still one of the most popular houseplants and it’s easy to see why as it is so versatile and easy to look after. Grows to 8m (but unlikely as a houseplant!)
  • Howea forsteriana: One of the most popular palms which if you stepped back into the Victorian times would have been seen in many a drawing room. They are still popular today as they are easy to grow, evergreen and will complement most rooms. Keep them away from direct sunlight as this can burn the leaves, and away from cold draughts. Grows to 3m.
