Overview

Aromatic bright green leaves, which are ideal for making mint sauce or adding to salads and summer drinks, are topped with dense spikes of pink, lilac or white flowers in summer. Spearmint has a slightly milder flavour than peppermint and it will happily grow in a good-sized pot (they have a tendency to become invasive if planted out in the border) provided it gets plenty of water. Place it close to paths and entrances, where the aromatic foliage can be easily picked for use in the kitchen.

Care guide

When plants have finished flowering in summer, cut flowered shoots back to 5cm (2in) above the surface of the compost. Mint can be vigorous in the garden so unless you want a large clump, you can contain it in a pot - but do keep it well watered.

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.

Typically plants are delivered ready to plant and will take some time to settle, grow and look more like the product image above.
