Overview

Hailed by the breeders (Dibleys Nurseries) as one of their favourites, 'Bethan' has both a lovely, neat habit and a very free-flowering nature. The flowers themselves are a soft purplish blue, with the lower being veined with deeper purple. In the wild, most streptocarpus are found in woodland, rocky slopes and grassland in southern Africa, but here in the UK, they make excellent houseplants that have an incredibly long flowering period. Supplied in a white glazed ceramic pot, which offers an immediate and attractive way to display it in your home. Home care: Water regularly during the growing season, allowing the compost to get a little dry in between; during this time they should also be fed with a high potash fertiliser. Overwinter in a shaded greenhouse, or indoors on a south or west-facing windowsill, watering less often. Repot each spring into a slightly larger, shallow pot filled with fibre-based compost. They can also be used as summer bedding - grow in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in partial shade.
