Overview

The bicoloured flowers of this African lily are really eye-catching. Opening from white buds, each one forms a good-sized, blue-based trumpet, with flaring white petal tips. These form in generous clusters, which top the upright stems, which emerge in mid- to late summer above the clumps of strap-shaped foliage. It looks wonderful when used to line the edges of a pathway - and it's super-easy to grow in a pot.

Care guide

Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser monthly from spring until flowering. Towards the end of September ease back on the watering and feeding of plants in containers to allow the foliage to toughen up. In cold areas, protect the crown of the plant with a deep, dry mulch to protect them from hard frosts, or grow in a pot so they can be overwintered in an unheated greenhouse. Divide plants that have become too big in spring, but remember you will often get more flowers when the roots are constricted.

Pots and Packaging
Larger pots (2L and above) are wrapped in waxed paper and then attached to a cardboard base so they stay stable in the box. The waxed paper prevents the compost from spilling out and gives the base some added protection from damp compost. For large numbers of plants, pallets may be used for shipping.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
