The flowers of this impressive allium are quite a deep purple, and they form in flat-bottomed clusters a little later in the season than most. Therefore, they are excellent for extending the season, adding height and colour well into summer. They make sublime cut flowers (for both fresh or dried arrangements), so make sure you plant a few extras for the vase.
