Joseph's Coat | Croton 'Mammy' | 13cm Pot | By Plant Theory

Native to Australia, Indonesia, and Malaysia, Croton plants are admired by gardeners for their beautiful, multi-coloured foliage. Croton plants can vary greatly in their shape and colour, so are a wonderful means of adding your own unique touch to a room. As such, it is understandable why they have earned the name 'Joseph's Coat'! (based on the technicoloured Dreamcoat). Although Crotons have a reputation for being relatively fussy plants, setting them up correctly from the start can allow them to mature into a plant that's difficult to go wrong with. They'll be happiest in bright direct light, as this helps mimic their native Oceanic habitat.

Care guide

Your plant will be happy in bright light that is preferably indirect, otherwise the leaves could be scorched. A little way back from a window in a bright room is optimum. The foliage of your plant may become a little dusty, so just wipe them down with a damp cloth occasionally, but try not to come into direct contact with the plant.

Advice on hot and droopy plants

If your plants are looking a little wilted right now, don't worry! Plants like to be filled with water to keep their structure, and when it's hot that water evaporates. Just give them an off-schedule watering and they'll be right as rain in no time! Be careful not to flood them - plants don't like extremes.
