Overview

This striking tropical orchid show cases elegant and waxy, creamy-yellow flowers, each blushing with pale pink and speckled with darker magenta. With its lush, long green leaves and masses of plentiful, dainty blooms, 'IcingSugar'adds a touch of tropical charm to any indoor space. Known for its strong growth and eye-catching flowers, this orchid is perfect for adding a vibrant yet sophisticated feel to your home, drawing attention with both its beauty and exotic appeal whilst flowering intermittently throughout the year. Please note that the plant will arrive in bud or flower, and comes in a 14cm nursery pot as standard,

  • Position: bright but indirect light
  • Soil: fertile: specialist potting compost
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Hardiness: tender (indoors only)
  • Current height: approximately 50cm (including pot)
  • Flower spikes: 3 or 4 flower spikes
  • Pot covers: choose a 16cm pot cover to give a good fit over the pot

Care guide

This orchid prefers cooler growing conditions, between 10-14°C in the winter, and below 30°C in the summer in a well lit place, with good ventilation but not in full sun. Let the compost dry out slightly on the surface before watering with tepid soft water, or rain water, allowing any excess water todrain away and then remove - don't leave the plant sitting in water. Feed through the summer with an orchid feed. It may produce roots outside the pot, but this is nothing to worry about. Once the flower shave finished, cut back the flower spikes to the base. Pot on using a specialist orchid compost.
