Overview

A compact, predominantly evergreen perennial wallflower producing a continuous display of colour from spring through summer. Clusters of fragrant blooms open in bright yellow and orange tones, deepening through pink and purple as they bushy habit and slender dark green leaves which provide an attractive backdrop to the shifting flower shades.

Ideal for sunny borders, cottage gardens, or containers, it adds long-lasting colour and scent with minimal upkeep once established. Erysimum ‘Paint Box’ thrives in well-drained soil and is loved by bees, though unloved by browsing deer and rabbits!. A reliable, low-maintenance wallflower that delivers months of vibrant blooms without replanting each year.

  • Hardiness: Borderline hardy (will need protection in winter in colder areas)

Care guide

Growing Erysimum in well-drained soil/growing medium is advised. Where frosts are severe, provide horticultural fleece protection and mulch with a thick layer of well-rotted organic matter to insulate the roots against the cold. Trimming after flowering will help prevent the plant from becoming leggy.
