Overview

Great groundcover for the front of a bed. Masses of small flowers appear for a long period from midsummer above the deeply divided foliage forming an attractive carpet of colour. Each purple-pink flower petal is paler at its base and fades again to near-white around its edge creating a lovely bi-coloured effect. They are also attractively threaded with darker coloured veins throughout. In autumn the normally green foliage turns attractive shades of red before it dies off. This is an easy to grow cranesbill that becomes drought tolerant with age and looks great spilling over the edges of a path or the front of a bed.

Care guide

When planting 'Elke', incorporate some well-rotted compost into the planting hole. In midsummer, rejuvenate plants that are beginning to look jaded by cutting back old flowered stems and leaves to their growth points at soil level and feed with seaweed extract. Once established, lift and divide large clumps in spring.

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.

Typically plants are delivered ready to plant and will take some time to settle, grow and look more like the product image above.
