Epimedium 'Pretty in Pink' emerges as a stunning evergreen cultivar, revealing bronzed foliage in spring that transitions to vibrant green in summer and returns to a rich bronze-purple hue come autumn. Its mid-late spring display features graceful sprays of rose-pink flowers, adorned with long white spurs and striking deep pink centres, adding a touch of elegance to any shaded or woodland border.

A resilient choice for dry shade once established, this rhizomatous perennial not only offers exquisite blooms but also serves as a beautiful ground cover, providing year-round interest with its charming heart-shaped foliage.

Care guide

Plant in partial to full shade with well-drained, humus-rich soil, either in the ground or a large pot using ericaceous compost. Space plants to allow for spreading and water well after planting, keeping the soil moist during dry spells.

Apply a 5-7?cm (2-3?in) mulch of leaf mould or compost in spring to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. Pruning is minimal—cut back old, damaged, or dead foliage in late winter or early spring to make way for new growth and reveal flowers. Fertilise lightly with a balanced or ericaceous feed in spring if growth requires bolstering.
