Overview

Soft colour with plenty of impact, this compact marguerite lights up summer displays with a steady run of daisy flowers in lemon, cream and warm pink shades. A neat, mound-forming habit keeps plants looking smart, while finely cut green foliage adds a fresh, lightly aromatic backdrop that shows the blooms off beautifully. Flowers appear freely from early summer right through to autumn, making it a reliable choice for long-lasting colour in pots, containers and sunny borders, and they’re sturdy enough to cut for the vase too.

It’s happy in full sun though will tolerate a little light shade, coping well with drier spells once established, as long as the soil drains well. Deadheading little and often keeps the show going and encourages more buds.

Although classed as tender, most gardeners grow marguerite ‘Aramis Lemon & Pink’ as a summer annual, or lift container plants to overwinter under cover or within a conservatory as a pot plant.

Care guide

Pot up and grow on under glass until all risk of frost has passed and they can be planted outside in a well-prepared bed or patio pot.

Pinch out the growing tips to encourage bushiness and apply a deep, dry mulch around the base of the plant in autumn if planted in open ground and protect with cloches or plant protection fleece if hard frost is forecast.

If top growth is damaged by the frost, the plants often re-grow from the base in spring. While a perennial, marguerites are often grown as annuals.
