Overview

Perhaps the best crab apple from which to make jelly, 'Evereste' bears masses of cup-shaped, white flowers from red buds in late spring, followed by large, red-flushed, orange-yellow fruit, and dark green leaves. This pollution tolerant crab apple is an ideal ornamental tree for a small, urban garden. Also, it's one of the best disease resistant crab apples, it is conical in shape, and it will flower (and fruit) best when grown in full sun. It will eventually grow into a medium-sized tree, though not to the height expected of a single-stemmed form.

Care guide

Plant 'Evereste' as soon as conditions allow (avoiding frozen and waterlogged soil). Choose a sheltered spot to protect emerging blossom. Incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly. Remove dead, diseased and crossing branches while the tree is dormant.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Larger pots (2L and above) are wrapped in waxed paper and then attached to a cardboard base so they stay stable in the box. The waxed paper prevents the compost from spilling out and gives the base some added protection from damp compost. For large numbers of plants, pallets may be used for shipping.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
